However, one of  our readers was asking – Is Pest control a decent paying job for a man to support his family?

I have been working in the Pest Control field for almost a year now, and I love it! I enjoy everything about my job. But right now I am kind of at a cross roads and my wife and I are about to start a family. I would like to hear from individuals who are raising a family on a pest control salary. Is this a well paying career? Obviously I am not looking to be rich, but I would like to stay in the pest management field if it is a good career to have.

I had a guy that work for me that was in the pest control business for 12 years but the benefits were bad but he loved the job.

For  the most part, the coming back of bed bugs is a bad thing. However, for those who earn a living to exterminate them it’s kind of a good thing. But with many effective bed bug sprays that can now purchased, more and more now choose to eliminate the pests themselves. In a way, that lessens the opportunity for pest control companies. However opting for a green bed bug killer can help attract back more customers.

Pests as bed bugs are very common in apartments. It’s good to know that there are landlords who are dedicated to provide safe living environment to their tenants and are initiating pest control actions.

But what do inspectors do during the inspection? What are the things you have to do to prevent problems for both sides? One of our readers sent us a message asking those specific things.

My building has pest control schedules, I was told the company will come next week and they want access to the bathroom, closets and kitchen. What do they do when they pest control the apartment? do I need to empty my closets?, I have a cat, a betta and a few indoor plants mostly cooking spices like chives, rosemary, etc, I am wondering if it is safe for my pets and if they will give me trouble because I have plants inside, any advice?

Did they give you anything to leave for the exterminator? I used to leave a checklist for apartments. The tenants were asked to fill out and leave them on the kitchen table. They were to inform me of any problems or concerns, like pets.

The main focus should be inspection, to look for problems. The bathroom and kitchen access is because bugs need water. The closets is probably for mice. Don’t empty the closets. Just try to clear the floor.

The days of random spraying and baseboard treatment are supposed to be gone. If the exterminator is any good, they will figure out you have a cat in about 2 seconds, and be careful. The plants will be fine. Several herbs repel bugs naturally. They are a good thing to have around.

In a pest control inspection, inspectors usually check into places where pests commonly hide or breed. You don’t have to empty your cabinets or closets. However, you have to let them know, or at least your landlord, that you have a cat just to give them a heads-up. If the inspection is for bed bugs, then they will definitely inspect your couch and mattresses as well so you might also need to give them access to your bedroom.

You have to do other things. Like what? You might ask. Well, you can call the pest control company and ask about important things. Examples are the details of the contract and the methods or processes they are implementing to get the job done.

You need to always remember that whatever pest you have, be it bed bugs, termites or ants, hiring an exterminator to get rid of them will cost much. So before you pick a pest control company, you have to make sure that they can really provide you the kind of service that you need.

I have a pest problem in my house with mice and insects. That traps and baits aren’t really having that much affect. I have been seeing ads for Riddex and Pest Control Plus. You plug them into the wall and they send signals through your house to repel the pests. I would like to know which ones really work so I can get rid of this nuance. Thank You

Here at bedbugbully, we think that the answer depends greatly on two things – what pest to get rid of and what kind of treatment you intend to implement. Because different pests can be eliminated in  various ways, one electronic pest control device for one treatment may not work or needed in another.

Nonetheless, your best weapon to get rid of any pest is knowledge. Identify the kind of pest you have in your house and know as much as  you can about them. Any information you can get you can use against pest.
