In a scene from Bill Schutt’s book, Dark Banquet: Blood and the Curious Lives of Blood-Feeding Creatures, American Museum of Natural History entomologist Lou Sorkin shows off his research colony of bed bugs before allowing hundreds of bed bugs to bite him and suck blood from his arm (the only way he can feed them).
